Women, Work, and Globalization explores: Key issues surrounding work and families from a global cross-cultural perspective. In the book, we argue that we are currently moving into a third stage of global modernity, which we call decentred globalism. Decentred refers to the ways in which the configuration that marks the global transformation is no longer concentrated in a small group of polities, but is increasingly dispersed. The term globalism marks both a basic continuity with earlier phases of the global.

Sometimes that transformation means growth, whether spiritually or personally. Sometimes that transformation is one of contraction, carving away the unwanted and unhealthy like a sculptor divining the art within a block of clay.
